SOLD OUT

WALL & ALL

Past mid-year and things are going strong! It’s been freezing lately which is good for the cars wanting to race all over the place but it’s absolute shite where my rotary scarred leg is concerned. I’ve missed two away events thanks to not being able to move my damn ankle, so if you were wondering why you never saw me at North vs. South in Durban and Bloem, you have your answer. The events have done well for us and I’m sure the crowds have been entertained too, judging by the numbers attending. As I said, I missed the Durban NvS, but from what I hear, thanks to an anonymous racer, SARS were called in to check the legality of “import cars”.

All I have to say on the matter is “Not cool dude, really!” It seems the dual cover idea from the last issue went down well, so we’ll be doing it again, but obviously not with every issue coz it’ll lose the novelty. Speaking of the covers, check out Starting Grid for an update on the wicked little red Fiat 131. Get well soon Monster! In this latest issue, number 59 to be exact, there’s some really cool shit. On the features side there’s a wicked little RX Capella, a high-powered Fiat X19 and a head to head session between a purpose built track Audi and a modded street-racer Kadett TS in P.E. You’ll be surprised by the results we got.

We’ve seen some stuff floating around on the net about how weight makes a big difference to your quarter mile times, so we decided to do some tests of our own. For more on the subject, page to the feature, but I must warn Opel fans that they might feel a little sad afterwards, but I assure you, it was all in the name of science! Ever wondered what JDM and Jap style are? How about Euro? Well we explain car styling for you too. Seeing as the latest instalment of Fast & Furious is called Tokyo Drift, we decided that now’s the right time to show you the ins and outs of drifting, where it started, what it’s like now and also how to kit your car out to be able to have fun on the bends.

In line with this, we show you what to look for when buying a 200SX, pretty much the only Jap-style drift car that was legally brought into SA (you reading this customs people, LEGALLY!). Magesh, Jozi’s King of Spin also makes an appearance, he’s nuts as you’ll see.

Have fun with this issue, we certainly did! Putting all this crazy shit together was brilliant!
Stay loyal!
