There have been so many awesome things that have recently happened in the sound industry, that I think our fellow countrymen, who managed to steer us to victory, deserve a special round of applause. If you are one of the few individuals that wasn’t so lucky as to attend the IASCA semi-finals, which took place a few weeks back in Durban, then I suggest you read the story a few pages on. There was actually so much more that I would have loved to say, however our designers give me a word count and unfortunately I need to keep to it. With that said, I just want to apologize for having to keep it straight forward and brief, however I think that I did manage to cover all the important facts. There were loads of people bitching about stuff, but that seems to be a norm at record breaking events. If you read the story I wrote in the previous issue about the Sport Compact event, you will notice that there weren’t any issues at all and I think the main difference is that we mainly saw new-comers who were out to do nothing else but the best they could do. They weren’t worried if they were beaten or anything of the sort. Just as long as they got a dB reading they were happy about it. With that said, I wish some of the older competitors will learn from this. I’ve said it before and I will say it again, it’s not about being the best that there is, it’s about being the best “you” can be. Stop worrying about what the other people are doing and concentrate on yourself. That’s the only way to get ahead. On the topic of Sport Compact, I would once again like to apologize for the incorrect dates that were printed in the sound section a few issues ago. The next event takes place on the 24th August at Tarlton Raceway and not on the 31st as previously printed. Gates open at 7am, however the sound off only starts at about 10am onwards. While I’m apologizing, let me just say sorry about the missing SPL feature in last months issue. I know that it was missed as I have been inundated with mail and phone calls asking if I trashed the section. Well it’s a long story as to why it was left out, however the important part is that we got it back in this month, so enjoy it. Another interesting thing that you will notice is that we’ve included two technical articles instead of the usual one. We’ve done this purely as an interest article and depending on the feedback I receive, I may just have one every month, but I won't know unless you mail me and let me know what you think. That’s all from me for this month. Keep it loud and play it safe. ome awesome surprises this year, so just wait and see. - Knee Rash |
