Most car guys/girl would agree that the best way to spend Friday nights, is with your mates, a good Boeri roll and a night of chill at a braai. This Friday evening Race Warz in association with Dirt Nurse, Gazebo World, Tweek Performance and Tyre Tricks brought everyone together for their Braai Park off Night.
We all met up in the parking lot at Northgate shopping centre, before heading off to Rivonia Blvd to an underground parking due to the unpredictable weather, to escape the elements. Our final destination was the head offices of Race Warz were what we thought would just be a reasonable group of cars, and the upstairs parking would be more than sufficient; however with more and more cars pulling in we soon found ourselves moving to larger underground parking area of the building.
No the reason behind the evenings event was for a rather good cause, sure there was a R50 entry fee, but this would be donated to the K9 Pit Track Anti-Poaching Unit Broederstroom in aid to help save our Rhinos, Lions and Elephants. A damn good cause if I ever seen one, the guys who work in these units don’t earn much and Poaching has become a serious threat to South Africa. We thank Dirt Nurse for raising awareness in the car community, and I believe they will also be holding an event at the end of the month to help raise more funds.
I started the evening upstairs with Nate and the guys, and later moved down stairs to the basement where all the action seemed to be. Before bringing out the camera, it was pretty awesome to spend the evening walking around with Joel & Annie, checking out the cars on display. Having guys come up to us and thanking us for putting out an amazing publication each month was an honour to say the least, like us, we love to share our passion with everyone.
Walking around you could feel the comradery between everyone, as they chilled smoking their hookah’s and some guys even took the whole “braai” park of the night literally as they brought out their skottle braai’s and grilled up some rather tasty looking Boeri’s; damn they did smell good hahaha.
There were some really cool looking cars on the evening and one that most definitely caught my eye, and Joel’s was a red Honda Civic EK with a gold engine bay with a gold and black rising sun on the bottom of the hood; what can I say Joel & I are JDM fans hahahaha (even though Joel’s real favourite of the night seemed to be a really neat red VW MkII Jumbo.)
What can I say about the night other than it was a seriously cool way to spend a Friday, and as usual chillin’ with mates and seeing familiar faces. Till the next time, keep it safe, keep it legal and keep it Supafly.
