Issue 88
December 10, 2008 by amish
Man what a year it’s been! There’s been loads of highs with all the great racing that’s taken place. No matter what your poison, there’s been something for you to enjoy. Our Sport Compact Series was a resounding success, it’s helped take the sport of drag racing up a notch. Tracks like Mad Dog and Black Rock are back on the scene making the old Wesbank Raceway pretty much forgotten. Drag racers have gotten faster in a short space of time. It seems the local boys know what’s what and having a 300kW turbo car is par for the course now. Track days have become the in place to be if you have a hot modified street car. From Zwartkops to Kyalami to Killarney, Aldo Scribante and even Roy Hesketh in KZN, track addicts have many playgrounds now, hell even the Bat seems to be hooked after just one session at Kyalami in his CSL!
Club events were also popular again, from dyno days to gymkhanas and the odd (safe) hillclimb. It’s great to see again, the past few years saw a decline in car club activity. The VW Club, the younger ST Club and the even younger RS Club being the most active from what I can see. Thanks for a great year guys. There are actually so many great things from 2008 for this industry that it’s not possible to mention them all. While there were highs, there were also lows. In 2008 we lost some great people in the industry, our fallen friends Gert Voster and Jaco Liebenberg will never be forgotten.
Racers were let down by motorsport’s ruling body on more than one occasion too in a few different events (cue 1st Avenue and KOTM) However you remember it, one thing is for sure, you will never forget 2008, I know I certainly won’t. To all our readers and their families, I wish you all the best and a very merry Christmas (if that’s your religion) and a happy 2009. I want to thank all of you out there for keeping SnS at the top during these hard financial times, you have no idea how
appreciated it is. I thank you.

Can’t wait for the 15th!
well done guys, good to see you going strong into 2009
I am a speedandsound fan who buys every months issue without negotiations or exceptions, however in Namibia is no speedandsound for December (issue 88)in sight which is very disappointing. I have checked regular shelves in Winhoek and Otjiwarongo (Namibia) but in vein. How will I get hold of the said issue? It is somehow very important to me. If you are looking for a distributor in Namibia to distribute your magazine you are welcome to contact me for negotiations. Please inform me on how to get Issue 88 please, please, please…..
Can someone please tell me where i can get issue 88 because i missed it!!! Please help!!!!
