Welcome to Issue 105 - The Krutch Edition!
This is a somewhat different issue this time around, yet it isn’t either. The powers-that-be have set up a challenge to a few of us here at head office. We’ve been given the reigns of Speed & Sound for a month, completely. I’m the lucky guy starting off the challenge, being dropped right in the deep end and all. Issue 105 is the Krutch Edition. SA’s Fastest

Sunday May 2 was set aside for us to visit Tarlton International Raceway for an event a little different to what we’re used to seeing on the strip. It was the first round of SA’s Fastest - an annual event that tests not only the straight line capabilities of some of the country’s fastest and most powerful street cars and bikes.
The event comprises of three disciplines: Gymkhana, 800m and 400m runs. This event lures names from all over South Africa. This year we saw the likes of Dawie Joubert in his turbo Ariel Atom make the trip from Stellenbosch to compete.
Willie de Beer made an appearance in his Porsche 911 GT2 so that he could compete against the likes of Gert van Rooyen in the Ultima GTR, Manny Ribeiro in a Birkin 7 and Pieter Zeelie in his new Lotus Exige.
It was a good day and such a pity that it’s not better attended in terms of spectators as it’s a great event with extraordinary cars testing their mettle.

Max Muscle Grand Opening.

Saturday the 8th of May saw a couple of us head out to Witbank for the opening of the Max Muscle workshop for a bit of a car show and dyno day.
We had a couple of cars on display namely Neeresh’s pavement pounder, Satish’s Quarter pounder and Theo “The Hitman’s” weapon of choice.
The day was a huge success and everyone had a rip roaring time.
