Wanna be a rally driver?

I know that we all think we can drive like a pro on the streets, no matter what the car is we’re piloting. We watch YouTube wipeout vids and we pass comments on how we could do better or how we could have saved the car from the situation. WRC is different though. Watching a few special stages on DStv is enough to make us super jealous. We know that the guys competing have some super skills behind the wheel and yes, we know we can only dream. Or can we? Andy wanted to try his skills on the dirt, so we hooked up with Rallystar to see just what’s what on the dirt. He can drive offroad now, but only slightly better than he used to when compared with the instructors on the course. Rallystar rocks, check it out in the mag.
Car Detailing 101

Neersh is anal about car care, so he made a plan to hijack the boss’s R32 and give it the once over his way. He uses all the greatest products, well the ones that are the greatest in his opinion, to get the job done. He’s done the car detailing in a few instalments so don’t expect to see everything in one go in the magazine. We’re stingy lke that sometimes, but that means we can bring you great content over a few issues too. Wanna know how to get a show & shine winning finish on your ride? Make a plan to read the article.
Fallen Angel – Old School Mk1

How hot is this thing? Wally found the car a couple of weeks back and after wiping his drool marks off the bonnet he organised a shoot at a fire station, fitting really coz the car’s do damn hot! It’s how all Mk1 Golfs should be styled, even the firemen agreed. The liked it so much they let the owner play dress up in their gear – for the rest of the shoot, well you know where to find it…

With the World Cup at an end, it means we could get back to life as we know it in SA coz all the Poms and Aussies have buggered off along with the rest of the footy mad foreigners. It also meant it it was time for the annual Autostyle Show held at Autostyle Motorsport at Gateway in Umhlanga Ridge. The date things happened was Sunday 8th August and as usual, it was power-packed. The VW Club made their way doen incorporating the event in their annual DubRun, and besides them, there were thousands of other people who made their way through. I’d tell you more but then you won;t buy the magazine. So buy it. Now.

The chaps saw this thing at the Dastek dyno day, and as is the norm when a car looks like this, a shoot was set up. This is a rare car as it is, but with this one featuring boost and making huge ponies, it’s a perfect feature car. Wally and Andy kicked out to the nether regions of Pretoria one morning before dawn showed her crack. They liked what they saw and shot – you will too, you have no choice!
BMW vs Opel @ Gerotek

This event was a re-run of an event that happened a few weeks before. On the original day there was a problem with the speed measuring equipment, it wasn’t exactly giving out the wrong speeds or anything, it just decided to go on strike which meant not everyone got in the runs they wanted. While it wasn’t a good thing on that day, it actually turned out for the best thanks to the BMW Club and the Opel Club deciding to run the event again. To sweeten the deal, the event was run at a reduced cost to make up for the inconvenience.
There were a few noticeable runs on the day with some pretty big speeds reached. As usual, if you want the low down, grab the next issue of Speed & Sound!

Bobby Hechter lives in Klerksdorp and must have the only modified Hyundai Getz in the country. We don’t ever recall seeing a modified Hyundai either. He says, “I want the world to see what my ride looks like and this has always been my dream to see my ride in the Speed and Sound magazine. Read more

Welcome to the Gangsta edition. With that said, I’m sure the speed fanatics are worried that I’ve made their section really small and that this issue would have more sound content, however that isn’t the case. Our brand name says it all, Speed and Sound, so with that in mind, there’s actually an awesome dose of both and to show everyone that I mean it, we’ve done a double cover edition. The one cover sports the RGM Supercharged E92 M3 and the other, a clean Mk3 VR6 Golf with a killer sound install. Read more
