Mad Mini terrorises GP!

To most people a Mini Cooper S is a pretty wicked car as it is.  150-summin kW in a small hatch with great handling is something needed when driving is all about fun.  Then you get the upgrades for the car and I’m not even talking about the aftermarket ones yet, just the stuff available from Mini.  There’s the whole John Cooper Works range that includes everything from brakes and suspension to intakes and software.  Aftermarket tuning companies also have a fair amount of stuff on hand to make power, some people have even added a turbo to the supercharged 1.6 lump.  That’s not enough, you get a whole new level that I shall dub the Johan Cooper Roux range, a true SA version.  Here it involves chucking the small capacity supercharged lump and replacing it with a motor weighing it with 400cc more and leaving the stupid charger off in favour of a T-60 Series turbo.  Yup, local really is lekker!  This one kicks off a stream of cars that we can only classify as “Street Sleepers”. Get the specs in the next mag!

Jeremy’s Street Drifter 200SX

Jeremy Boltman is known for his love for all things VW.  He’s had a wicked Mk5 GTi that was sold on in favour of a Mk5 R32 riding on the sickest wheels out there.  He built a mint Mk1 2-door seemingly just for a huge VW Club breakfast run one day – the car has since been sold.  He is still busy with a Caddy project that is the hottest thing on four wheels which we hope to splash in the SnS pages when it’s complete one day.  This feature car strays far from the Euro-based stuff we know he loves and as your brain will have already processed, it’s a product of the Land of the Rising Sun.  Yup, the VW man built himself a wicked 200SX thanks to his new fascination with drifting (you can usually catch him spectating at The Rock whenever they have an event).  He built up a drift car for fun, but wanted it streetable too – so here you have it – a hot street drift car. Readers ride of the month: Opel

September 20, 2010 by · 11 Comments

opelJust by looking at Philip Weyer’s Opel you can tell it was built for speed. I mean you wouldn’t take pictures with the bonnet open if it was slow. The motor is where the majority of the changes have taken place with a fully balanced bottom end to reduce the rotational losses and allow the engine to rev better. Read more

front-cover-109-webOn Sale: 20 September

It’s been a very long time since I’ve had to do this and I’ve been battling to scrape my thoughts together to compose this in order for it to be interesting, enlightening and above all motivate my issue. As you may have noticed, we have each been given the opportunity to compose our own issue to the best of our ability in the way that we think will please you, the reader, the most. This month has been quite an awesome one for me in particular as there has been a lot of all sorts of action going on around the country, ranging from drag racing, special convoys cross country, mega car shows and a shed load of other interesting advancements both personally and within the industry. img_6472 While out and about on my rounds, I came across this project.

It looks a lot like a Puerto Rican drag Mazda all tubbed out and fully loaded. Unfortunately i can’t tell you any more than that.

Can’t wait to see how it turns out.
