For drift fans that are stuck in a hole, oblivious to the world around them, it’ll come as news to you that popular South African drifter, Otto Graven, is currently in the USA, competing in the tough Formula Drift Championship this year.
Having carted two of his Nissan 350Z drift cars, Otto has been battling tooth and nail to cement his name as a force to be reckoned with.
Having missed only one of the four rounds, Otto is currently placed 19th in the championship standings and is the second highest rookie, just behind Walker Wilkerson, who he is aiming to beat in order to claim the Rookie Of The Year award.
The fourth and most recent round of the Formula Drift Championship took place at The Wall in New Jersey where Otto qualified 13thand defeated Matt Waldin to secure a spot in the Top 16. It was here that he was eliminated by Conrad Grunewald who went on to win the round.
Otto’s next challenge is at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, Washington on the 22 and 23 July. Follow his progress by going towww.formulad.com or www.justin.tv for live streaming of the event.

Zoopedup Bday Bash
June 15, 2011 by Warren · 3 Comments
On another cold rainy day, cars poured into the parking lot at Cantina Tequila in Honeydew. The day started with a few delays, but when we got going, we really got going!
EMMA ran SQ & ESQL & Zooped-up ran SPL, BB, show & shine and glow-in-the-dark.
The competition was very tough, with a lot of really good cars and a lot of new entries.
Judging was tough enough as it is with all the vehicles to get through and the weather made it tougher.
ESQL is such a hit! Even though it’s only one “introductory” class at the moment, competitors seem to really enjoy the format. I’m sure it will develop into a full league!
We really want to thank everyone for taking the time and having the courage to compete.
It’s all you guys that make it possible! I hope you will all continue to attend and enjoy our events in the future as we really enjoy having you there & seeing you grow!!
All teams, clubs, shop owners and installers are officially challenged to show EMMA what you’re made of and what you can do! From July there will be a special award for the team with the most competitors entering into the competition and an award for the team with the most trophy takers! Who’s got what it takes?
Keep your eyes on the Facebook page and Speed and sound forum for details of upcoming events… See you out there !
Issue 118

Issue 118 – on sale 20 June.
On the back of celebrating ten years of high octane modifying, we return to the tried and trusted and punch out an issue packed with power. The speed side of things sees our cover car, Quinten’s already notorious Honda Civic EH, make its national debut. This N/A Screamer has already set the cat amongst the pigeons in the NA FWD class and is set to make big waves.
Speaking of notorious rides, the MACE BMW 325iS Evo2 shows us why hypercars are no match for this locally bred beast. Old school rules with Danie’s blown arch MkII Ford Escort packing a powerful punch thanks to its 2JZ-GTE motor. We compare two sibling BMWs with entirely different agendas with the Afrox Team and their pair of 335is as we shoot them on track.
We profile RACE! and bring you action from the BMW Club Track day the Saldanha Top End runs while Neeresh brings you the long awaited action from the Rand Show event.
In the sound side, the Gangsta celebrate a new addition to the family, his new son, Kiyash. He also brings you the two-time Bass Boxing champion and his DD Opel Corsa. Big Boss Auto reveals a VW Scirocco with a banging Y2K Rockford system, and a super neat BMW 325iS with a pounding Audio Panache setup.
All this action, and more, in the July issue of Speed and Sound Magazine, on sale 20 June.
MAGP Show Golden Horse Casino.
June 13, 2011 by Warren · 2 Comments
I recently took a trip to KZN to see what was going on down there with regard to cars and shows. These guys are purely car modding driven and the amount of events and cars down there is enough to keep us busy for eternity. The Sunday I spent at the annual MAGP show at Golden Horse Casino. It is purely a show for modded cars and some of the rides that rocked up were mind blowing. Big up to the organisers for an awesome show.
