Cover Shoot Model Search

This is one for the girls! Well, also for the guys depending on how you look at it. In our December issue we would like to have a model posing with one of the feature cars, most likely the cover car. We could easily get hold of a model from a modeling agency, but we think that’s the easy way out, so we’re searching for a reader, or a reader’s girlfriend to pose with the car. We need all you willing ladies out there to mail a picture of yourself with your name and age to spyke@speedandsound.co.za so that we can post it in the Model Search Album.

There are rules to the whole affair though. We don’t want pics that are in your face and provocative, nothing smutty, we just want pics that are tasteful, tasteful, tasteful. You can pose next to a car, or anything you want that you think makes you look like a winner. With each picture submitted, we want a short bio on you and why you think you should win this competition, it doesn’t need to be intense of course, just something interesting. Entrants have to be 18 years old or older. Mails limited to 3mb max.

So what do you get for your troubles besides being featured in Speed & Sound Magazine? Well, we’ve scraped together all the spare change lying around the office and from the staff members’ cars and have a cash prize of R5000 for the winner. That’s a brilliant Christmas bonus for one lucky lady! We’re also really cool here, so the competition isn’t limited to Jo’burg ladies. Actually it’s not even limited to South African ladies. The competition is also open to ladies living in the neighbouring countries too, so if you’re from Namibia, Mozambique, Botswana, Lesotho or Zimbabwe, get your entries in. We’ll fly the winner into Jo’burg and arrange accommodation too as part of the prize.

Issue 121 storms in and brings with it hot weather and even hotter cars. With the weather warming up in our dear old country, it’s time to get the cars ready for those breakfast runs and meet-ups. It’s also a reminder that the year is drawing to a rapid close and the silly season is nigh.

Last month we showed the bugs a little love and this month it’s the turn of the E30 BMW. We kick things off with our cover car – the worlds fastest BMW powered E30 that was built right here on our doorstep.

We go back in time and look at two immaculate examples in the form of a mint E30 M3 and a Warsteiner Race replica. We also snoop around the fastest NA E30 in SA and revisit an old turbo friend. The BM guys show off their wares at the BMW Concourse event and we chat to Cape BMW fundi, Achmat Achmat. Read more

The ever popular Autostyle is scheduled to take place at a new venue this year. Yup, it will now take place at the Gateway Shopping Mall but it promises to be everything and more that it has ever been. It is also taking place a little later this year due to a few logistical reasons and will take place on Sunday the 2nd of October. Trust me you don’t want to miss it!
