So when you’re building a tuner car and you send SnS a 43 page document of specs, pics and mods and add to that you mention that your car could arguably be the most hectic 350Z around, it says a lot. And when I say around, I mean not just Cape Town, not just SA, but the world. Behold… Noer set out to build a project car to end all project cars. A car so extreme and so tuned that it would turn heads at any show, anywhere, but yet still be able to play when it came to drag racing, or drift events.

It’s about bloody time! A normally aspirated rotary that looks great and kicks ass on the strip while sounding like a pack of banshees on heat! This little pistonless beauty belongs to Chris Smidt who’s no stranger to rotary powered cars, thanks to his father’s obsession. Big Chris (his father) runs a red Series 5 RX-7 that’s seen many mods too, all done through our mate Arthur at AJ Racing. For this project, Little Chris (who’s not really that small) opted to build himself a hot track toy that wasn’t dependent on boost to get some good times. Read more

Firestarter Honda:

One of the greatest things about living in our neighboring countries is that there isn’t as much red tape involved in obtaining a hot Jap import. I guess that’s one of the reasons their country is actually flooded with half decent cars which you don’t have to give an arm, or in King Krutchs case, an ankle, just to own one. Something about what I just said should tell you that this mighty fine Honda Civic aint from South Africa, and in case you didn’t pick up on that just yet, the fact that it looks very different from the ones we originally got in South Africa, should be enough reason to question its origins.   Read more

Sportech Golf 5 GTi:

For generations the GTi name has been immortalized by petrol heads, but still the modifying world does not rest, targeting these cars and pushing their design to the limits. Fresh stuff is always on the go and the import scene supplies this part of the map with flashy mods and a whirlwind of new ideas. Nothing comes cheap for the GTI, mastering the original work takes a trained eye and a full wallet-more so if you want to go fully custom.

Monster Mob 350Z:

The sport of drifting is slowly but surely growing in good ol’ South Africa. Over the last three years it’s gone from strength to strength and it’s only going to get bigger. Even after the demise of Wesbank, there are guys out there that are dedicated to keeping the sport alive and thriving.
Otto Graven and his brother, Ronnie, can definitely be regarded as leaders in the automotive world of drifting.

Insane RX7:

When you attempt to modify a car that has already been comprehensively rehashed there’s always the risk of going backwards, and ending up with something that looks worse off. Only the very skillful and brave can attempt a project as daunting as this one. We had this RX7 on cover two years ago; back then it was hottest set of wheels this side of the equator.

Nitro King Datsun:

Anyone, and I do mean anyone who’s worth their salt in the aftermarket tuning industry will have heard of Nitro Performance, or at the bare minimum, it’s owner Sybie Coetzee. Over the years he’s built up quite a reputation and is widely regarded as the man to go to for anything to do with nitrous. Be it an installation from scratch, an upgrade to an existing kit or fixing up someone else’s attempt.

Horror Show Honda:

In 1999, Honda Japan launched the S2000, reportedly created to celebrate the company’s 50-year anniversary. What a way to celebrate! The S2K (that’s Honda talk for the S2000) is a marvel of motoring technology in many aspects. The motor sits up front, but its located quite far back to give a perfect weight transfer, it has a limited slip diff, a six speed manual transmission, an electronic soft top and a high-revving motor.
