Issue 108

Welcome to the Gangsta edition. With that said, I’m sure the speed fanatics are worried that I’ve made their section really small and that this issue would have more sound content, however that isn’t the case. Our brand name says it all, Speed and Sound, so with that in mind, there’s actually an awesome dose of both and to show everyone that I mean it, we’ve done a double cover edition. The one cover sports the RGM Supercharged E92 M3 and the other, a clean Mk3 VR6 Golf with a killer sound install. Read more

Issue 107 - Andy’s issue
The only thing issue 107 has in common with the other 106 mags before it is that there are still two sections; one for speed freaks and the other for sound guys – I Said Sound Guys! It’s fairly nuts to change a formula that has seen SnS become the best performance magazine in SA for as long as anyone cares to remember but I decided to give it a new injection of fizz with some strong informative sections while not neglecting the best custom cars the country has on offer. Our cover car epitomises the sense of extremity with the most acrobatic of body panels and vivid colours. If you like to see the purest fabrication possible don’t miss this radical feature. Read more

Issue 106 – The Spyke Issue
While we all know I’m drifting crazy, some of you will be pleased to know that this installment of your favourite tuner magazine is not filled with only sideways cars. I’ve kept it real, Louis Gossett Jr said I must. You can look forward to some great drag racing action in an exciting new format – both on the track and in the glossy pages of this issue. This includes action from Sport Compact as well as Round 2 of the Nationals Championship. There’s more event action from the Twincam Dyno day and the Japan Auto Show. Neeresh also visited the KDSA Sound off in Stanger. Read more

Welcome to Issue 105 - The Krutch Edition!
This is a somewhat different issue this time around, yet it isn’t either. The powers-that-be have set up a challenge to a few of us here at head office. We’ve been given the reigns of Speed & Sound for a month, completely. I’m the lucky guy starting off the challenge, being dropped right in the deep end and all. Issue 105 is the Krutch Edition. A normal issue planning session has all of us pitching feature ideas, and once a list is compiled this is checked with the big boss in case he wants anything added or removed. Read more
Issue 104
Yes, I know, another Mk1. It really is justified though; this thing is super clean and super quick. It belongs to a chap known as Bibi and it’s causing a scene at the Sport Compact events thanks to running in the mid 11-second time frame. We also have coverage of the first round of the AutoZone Sport Compact series, and while it wasn’t too well-attended, there were some power cars running some power times, most notably the time from Richard Jordaan. You’ll have to buy the mag to see that though. Read more

Issue 103 is once again, wicked, cool and worth sinking your teeth into. The car splashed on the cover is special in a few ways. Firstly, it’s a Cape car, as you know most hail from Gauteng simply because there are more up here. Then, it’s also owned by a lady, which as you know, it’s not common to see a tasty woman with a tasty car. The only other one I can recall over the last ten years was Sone and her Honda. The last cool point about the car is that it’s now the first time a husband and wife team have had covers cars. Firdous’ husband, Noer, is owner of the insane gold 350Z that graced the cover of Issue 86. So yeah, a special car that’s gonna make many guys green with envy. Read more

Issue 101
January 14, 2010 by amish · 5 Comments
With the festive season done and dusted and the masses returning to the grindstone, we can put our 100 Issue milestone behind us and focus on the next big year ahead of us. With the drama of the FIFA World Cup looming nearer it’s nice to know that there’s still a staple that you can rely on – Issue 101 of your favourite performance magazine. We feature the Red Light District Repsold MR2 Mk1. Built to take on the drag strip, this potent 1600 has already run a 10.7 without gas. It’s name come from the fact that it started out it’s modified life in the land of windmills and weed. The Budnik BMW E46 M3 is a circuit demon built with only one purpose – to be as light and as fast as possible without having to rely on boost. This NA screamer has been done right and is a sight to behold.

Issue 99
November 10, 2009 by amish · 5 Comments
Issue 99 has just been wrapped up. It was a chaotic one; you’ll notice that this update is less than a month after our last one, that’s how busy we’ve been. We are however, super amped to bring you this issue as it has some killer content. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, it does.
So what is there to look forward to in our last double-digit issue? For starters, our cover car is the epitome of Old School Cool. An air force grey Mk1 2-door with all the right old-school retro bits combining euro flavour. This has to be one of the best efforts we’ve ever seen – even I like it! And that’s saying something! Sticking to the VW theme, we bring you Michael’s track ripping Evo substitute. Andy took it for a drive and was blown away by the performance of this GTI. Goodies from all the right tuning houses make this Golf V a force to be reckoned with. Read more
