Local larnies lose it!

Yup, even local SA larnies cock it up every now and again.  Sometimes, these rare cock ups involve supercars, and in an even rarer instance, this monumental cock up features TWO supercars!

According to Tanya Waterworth’s report on  IOL,  “Two expensive supercars crashed into each other, causing extensive damage, during a VIP wedding reception at the quiet town’s local sports club last Saturday afternoon, leading to confrontations with residents.”  That certainly must have been something to behold.  I know if I was there I’d have either a Canon SLR and a rapidly filling memory card or a cell phone working overtime to snap pics and vids, obviously in between bouts of laughter!

You can see from the pics, (jacked from Wrecked Exotics) both the Lamborghini Murcielago and Ferrari F430 can be repaired as the damage isn’t too bad.  From the alleged information about the events that transpired, I’m, thinking there may just not be an insurance payout here, well most certainly not for both cars.  The owners may just have to reach deep into their pockets to fix these things.

Tanya  goes on to say: “While there was speculation that the two cars were “dicing” down the town’s main Kangella Street, Captain Tienkie van Vuuren said the drivers had told police that Mbambo was giving directions to Sibiya, which were misunderstood.  “The two drivers said they were looking for a nearby dam where wedding pictures were being taken. “According to them, Mbambo signalled to Sibiya to turn, but Sibiya took it as a signal to overtake, and the collision occurred.”     Even though no one was injured in the accident, Tanya found out that one man was allegedly assaulted, while cellphones with cameras were seized and a local journalist, Larry Bentley, was threatened when he took photographs.

Potholes? It gets worse, whole lanes messed up!

Yeah, it gets worse, just take a look at the pics.  These are roads that I take to work and back, and the scary thing about what you see here is that there are larger potholes up the street but I couldn’t get pics because there was no safe place to park Allanah.  Even scarier is that this is the “good” road to take!  You can see in the pics that to avoid these holes you have to go into the oncoming lane, but that can usually be timed right to dodge cars too.  What about that section of road that’s completely washed up?  You can’t just go around it, you need to be in the oncoming lane for around 80-metres, that’s some distance!

SNS at MPH ‘10

Yeah, we were there with a huge kick-ass Rockford Fosgate trailer pumping some wicked tunes.  Kris Budnik’s E46 M3 that was featured on the cover of Issue 101 was on dsplay as was a wicked ICE’d out Series 4 RX-7 and an airbrished, HellaFlush carbon fibre-bodied Opoel Corsa.  At the back of the stand we had A.S.E’s insane Subaru WRX STi hatch as well as a sweeeeeet new Skyline GTR in a fresh light metallic blue paint, a complete change from the factory colours on offer.  Read more

Metro “The Beast” unleashed!

Ahh, nice to see our hard-earned money at work for a change. While I usually give ten kinds of kak to the Metro chaps for enforcing ridiculous speed limits and other petty and out-of-date laws, this time around, I’m giving them a serious criminal-bashing high-five!

I break the law (by speeding!) and I pay the price - I do the crime, I do the time. That’s me though… Throughout SA there are loads that do the crime and dodge the time, stacking up fines like they’re proof of driving skill or something. These chaps aren’t the worst though. The guys I hate are the ones who are cruisuing with stolen plates/cars and out of date licences. They’re the real criminals, and also insurance risks. If one of these unlicenced idiots ploughs into you, YOU foot the bill through YOUR insurance.

Well The Beast not only weeds out fine dodgers, it weeds out all real criminals too. There’s almost no escaping Metro’s huge roadblocks these days, unless you’re obeying the law. For once it seems ALL motorists will be treated fair, so expect to see loads of taxis being impouned at these blocks - AWESOME!
