This industry is BOOMING !!!
On another cold rainy day, cars poured into the parking lot at Cantina Tequila in Honeydew. The day started with a few delays, but when we got going, we really got going!
EMMA ran SQ & ESQL & Zooped-up ran SPL, BB, show & shine and glow-in-the-dark.
The competition was very tough, with a lot of really good cars and a lot of new entries.
Judging was tough enough as it is with all the vehicles to get through and the weather made it tougher.
ESQL is such a hit! Even though it’s only one “introductory” class at the moment, competitors seem to really enjoy the format. I’m sure it will develop into a full league!
We really want to thank everyone for taking the time and having the courage to compete.
It’s all you guys that make it possible! I hope you will all continue to attend and enjoy our events in the future as we really enjoy having you there & seeing you grow!!
All teams, clubs, shop owners and installers are officially challenged to show EMMA what you’re made of and what you can do! From July there will be a special award for the team with the most competitors entering into the competition and an award for the team with the most trophy takers! Who’s got what it takes?

The second round of Sport Compact 2011 took place at Tarlton international raceway on Sunday the 29th of May. needless to say the turnout was great both spectator and competitor wise and the excellent traction provided loads of excellent times and plenty of breakages at the same time.

I attended the last round of the Drag Racing Nationals series at Tarlton this Wednesday the 27th of April. To my surprise there were some of the best looking drag cars I had seen in a long time and some pretty good times were achieved on the day. Take a look.

The second SupaDrift Series event to be a humdinger at
Zwartkops Raceway on the 2nd of April 2011.
With the Cricket World Cup being pretty much over for South Africa, motorsport has taken its 20-20 format to the tarmac and ‘Drifting” is the motorpsorts code on show. Its exciting and pretty much a mayhem myriad of burning rubber, ‘slideways’ motions and serious speed!and spectators can get all the entertainment right in front of them; that means no limited eyeballing of portions of highly contested laps; its all happening right in front of you. Three corners and close side by side rear wheel drive action awaits fans that come see tandem battles, duals that leave one with abated breathe.
Top Gear Festival 2011

The Top Gear show was somewhat different this year with the venue being moved to Kyalami and the format changed completely. It was more of a festival with a lot of different activities taking place in and around the grounds of Kyalami Race track.
The weather wasn’t the greatest and this played an integral role in the perceptions of visitors to the show who were a little disgruntled to say the least.

Supadrift Swartkops Saturday 19 Feb 2011!

The next round of the almighty Supadrift series takes place at the Swartkops International Raceway on Saturday the 19th of February. This promises to be an awesome event and definitely shouldn’t be missed.
Gates open at 9am and the event closes at 6pm.
entrance is R80-00 for adults and R40-00 for kids.

A little birdie dropped me a mail the other day. In it was a link for a YouTube video, one that I’ve included below…
Recognize the race track? Recognize the cars? You should.
Yes, it’s Tarlton International Raceway and that is JET1 and JET2 piloted by none other than Nico van Rensburg and Pieter de Wit.
The French advertising company enlisted the help of Tarlton’s Jets and track to shoot this TV commercial for McDonalds in France, advertising their new McFarmer burger.
The commercial was shot over two days using South African extras and props. The McDonalds that you see in the final shots is actually a facade and was shot in the pits at Tarlton. The Mickey D’s is actually the fuel store. (Take a look at the Audi parked alongside it – it’s on GP plates)
Besides the fact that the jets can’t spin their tyres and they don’t have rev counters (Rev counter on a Westinghouse jet engine? WTF?), we think the ad is well done and is quite funny too. Nice to see our local guys being shown overseas, even if it is for a burger commercial.
