Fast and Furious Kllarney

January 3, 2011 by · 2 Comments

img_5580Once again the Cape was host to it’s biggest charity motoring event at Killarney Raceway. The Fast, Furious and Glorious Allstarz took place over the 26th and 27th of December, and as usual it was packed to capacity with competitors and spectators from all over the country. They were there to witness and take part in  some of the hottest Drag racing in the country as well as the show and shine, RC Drifting and sound off. the beauty of this event is that it’s held in aid of the Blouvlei L.S.E.N school and the organisers Extreme Concepts SA provided something for the whole family to enjoy.

Drag racers like Nazeer with his Turbo charged Nos GP BMW, Raymond Pillay with his naturally aspirated BMW 325, Shaid Essop with his beast like E30 BMW and Aslam Seedat with his naturally aspirated 2 door Golf were there.

Speed and Sound also made an appearance with “Batty” showing everyone how it’s done by running his personal best of 12.6 seconds in the fastest CSL E46 M3 in the country. Willie Nel was there with his V8 powered Can Am as well as Ahsraf Allie in his black Escort and Wesley Lewin in his Corolla.

Mad Mini terrorises GP!

mini1

To most people a Mini Cooper S is a pretty wicked car as it is.  150-summin kW in a small hatch with great handling is something needed when driving is all about fun.  Then you get the upgrades for the car and I’m not even talking about the aftermarket ones yet, just the stuff available from Mini.  There’s the whole John Cooper Works range that includes everything from brakes and suspension to intakes and software.  Aftermarket tuning companies also have a fair amount of stuff on hand to make power, some people have even added a turbo to the supercharged 1.6 lump.  That’s not enough, you get a whole new level that I shall dub the Johan Cooper Roux range, a true SA version.  Here it involves chucking the small capacity supercharged lump and replacing it with a motor weighing it with 400cc more and leaving the stupid charger off in favour of a T-60 Series turbo.  Yup, local really is lekker!  This one kicks off a stream of cars that we can only classify as “Street Sleepers”. Get the specs in the next mag!
