The North vs South Drag Racing Championships, presented by Speed and Sound, returns!
The first round will be held at the Rhino Park Airfield on September 29th, 2019, and the event features No Prep heads-up Drag Racing, round 3 of the Street Kings Car Audio competition, Show and Shine park-off presented by JHB Parties, and a live DJ! Due to safety concerns and space allocation, the organisers have decided to go with an 1/8 mile format (200m) that will not only give drivers suitable braking distance, but also provide ample parking in the pits and not on the dirt.
The event has a rich heritage behind the name. It was first introduced by Speed and Sound and Yokohama SA in 2005 and was hosted at every drag strip, track, airfield, and street across the country in all the major cities. As cars got quicker, North vs South fell away for the more popular Sport Compact Series which became the preferred playground for many competitors.
Prize money will be up for grabs so diarise October 1st to book your spot!
Rhino Park Airfield is located just 28-minutes east of Pretoria. As explained earlier, limited number of entries will be enforced due to the capability of the venue’s airfield. The event brings you side by side racing action from just about every type of genre in drag racing featuring the top cars from Gauteng. Safety rules for driver and car will be strictly enforced.
