IMPORTANT: By purchasing an entry, you confirm that you have read, understood and accepted the Burnout Masters rules below. No competitor may claim they were unaware of the rules after entering.
1. ELIGIBILITY
- The competition is open to high performance and modified vehicles capable of performing a sustained burnout.
- No Spin cars. No Drift cars. No Front Wheel Drive cars.
- Vehicles must be suitable for use on the designated burnout area and must pass the event’s safety inspection.
- The organisers and officials reserve the right to refuse entry to any vehicle considered unsuitable, unsafe or incapable of participating in the competition.
- The final decision on vehicle eligibility rests with the event organisers.
2. TECHNICAL & SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
- Only DOT-approved street tyres of any size is allowed.
- All vehicles must be mechanically sound and free from obvious fluid leaks.
- Seat belt, brakes, steering and throttle systems must be in safe working order.
- A fully charged fire extinguisher is compulsory.
- The driver must wear a suitable helmet, long sleeves, long pants and closed shoes as required by the event’s safety officials.
- Loose items must be removed from the vehicle.
- No passengers are permitted during a competition run.
- Any vehicle showing signs of mechanical failure, excessive fluid leakage, fire or another safety concern will be stopped immediately.
3. DRIVER INSTRUCTIONS
Drivers must obey all instructions from marshals, officials and judges.
A driver who ignores an official instruction to stop may be immediately disqualified from the competition and removed from the event.
No burnouts are permitted outside the designated competition area.
4. POINTS
Competitors will be judged and awarded points for:
INSTANT SMOKE – How quickly the vehicle produces substantial smoke after entering the burnout area.
CONSTANT SMOKE – The amount, density and consistency of smoke produced throughout the run.
DRIVER CONTROL & FLOW – Vehicle control, positioning, throttle control and the overall smoothness and flow of the performance.
VEHICLE PERFORMANCE – Power delivery, wheel speed, engine performance and the vehicle’s ability to maintain the burnout.
BONUS POINTS – The execution of a tyre blowout and the overall finish of the run.
5. JUDGING
Judges will score each competitor based on the published judging criteria.
The judges’ decision is final.
Competitors may be penalised for:
- Standing/Stationary burnout
- Leaving the designated burnout area
- Losing control of the vehicle
- Failing to follow officials’ instructions
- Failing to complete the compulsory tyre blowout
- Unsafe driving
- Deliberately stopping the run without an acceptable reason
- Any behaviour considered dangerous or detrimental to the event
6. TYRE BLOWOUT
Tyre blowouts will be be award points.
Tyre blowout ARE NOT compulsory.
7. DISQUALIFICATION
A competitor may be disqualified for:
- Dangerous or reckless driving
- Deliberately ignoring an official
- Endangering spectators, officials or other competitors
- Using a vehicle that has failed the safety inspection
- Performing a burnout outside the designated area
- Unsportsmanlike behaviour
- Any attempt to interfere with another competitor’s run
- No entry fee will be refunded following disqualification.
- If officials determine that continuing the burnout presents a danger to the driver, spectators, officials or equipment, the run will be stopped regardless of whether the tyre has blown out. Safety takes priority over the competition.
8. RUN ORDER
Practise round will take place at 10am. Practise round will last 30-seconds.
Competitors will be allocated a running order by the event organisers.
Competitors must be ready when called.
9. THE FINALS
The two competitors with the highest scores will be the Finalists.
Finalist will have one final opportunity to perform a final burnout.
The Final will be judged on the same criteria as the qualifying rounds,
10. THE WINNER
The competitor achieving the highest score from the judges will be declared the Speed and Sound Burnout Masters Champion.
In the event of a tie, the judges may require the tied competitors to perform an additional run or use the relevant judging criteria as a tie-break.
11. ORGANISER’S DECISION
Safety marshalls and judges reserve the right to:
- Refuse or cancel an entry
- Modify the competition format
- Stop a run
- Disqualify a competitor
- Change the running order
- Cancel or postpone the competition if required for safety or operational reasons
The organisers’ decision regarding safety, eligibility, judging and disqualification is final.
